Energy and Infrastructure: A New Boost for the Competitiveness of the Port of Kribi
PAK welcomes the Minister of Water and Energy to monitor strategic power and water infrastructure projects supporting the development of the port platform.
On 19 August 2026, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) welcomed the Minister of Water and Energy, Mr Gaston Eloundou Essomba, for a monitoring visit focused on the construction of the 225/30 kV substation, the 225 kV transmission line connecting KPDC to PAK, and the water supply infrastructure serving the port platform.
On 19 August 2026, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) welcomed the Minister of Water and Energy, Mr Gaston Eloundou Essomba, for a visit focused on monitoring several strategic infrastructure projects designed to strengthen the port platform’s energy and water supply capacity.
The visit was attended by the Governor of the South Region, Mr Félix Nguele Nguele, the Senior Divisional Officer of the Ocean Division, Mr Bouba Haman, and the Managing Director of PAK, Mr Patrice Melom.
Strengthening the Port’s Power Supply
During the visit, the Minister reviewed the progress of construction works on the 225/30 kV electrical substation and the 225 kV transmission line connecting KPDC to the Port Authority of Kribi.
These facilities are strategically important for the future of the port platform. They are expected to strengthen the reliability and availability of the port’s power supply while creating more favourable conditions for the development of industrial and logistics activities in its surrounding area.
“The combination of the two should create a more favourable ecosystem for the deep-water port and for all the companies that will develop around it,” the Minister of Water and Energy stated.
Water Infrastructure to Support Port Development
The visit also included an inspection of the water infrastructure designed to supply the port platform.
The Minister visited the water intake station and the water treatment plant forming part of the water supply project intended to serve the Port Authority of Kribi.
These facilities complement the investments undertaken to strengthen the essential utilities required for the operation and continued development of the port platform. They are expected to become operational in early 2027.
Infrastructure Supporting the Industrial-Port Ecosystem
The development of these energy and water infrastructure projects directly supports the continued growth of the Port Authority of Kribi and its surrounding industrial ecosystem.
Reliable power and adequate water supply are essential factors in attracting investors, supporting the establishment of new businesses, and developing production and processing activities around the port.
These projects therefore contribute to building a more resilient, attractive and better-equipped industrial-port ecosystem, aligned with Cameroon’s broader development ambitions.
For the Port Authority of Kribi, this infrastructure development strengthens the foundations required for sustainable growth and further consolidates its role as a driver of economic, industrial and logistics development for Cameroon and the Central African sub-region.
