The training opportunity provided by the General Management and Smit Lamnalco, our partner, has helped us to catch up and equally to comply with Resolution A960(23) of the International Maritime Organization on continuous training of maritime pilots. This resolution recommends that maritime pilots operating in ports go for training on simulators every five years, for capacity-building and updating on technological developments.
We did not have the opportunity for this simulator-based training in the past when launching operations on the various terminals, and this has sometimes led to discrepancies and misunderstanding with tug boat owners and caused waste of time during operations. Today, we are satisfied for having been able to agree on common procedures and good practices. We have equally improved on our knowledge of ASD tug boats that we will now use safely and more optimally.
