PAK Strengthens Staff Skills through the TrainForTrade Programme
A coaching programme for the Francophone network of the Port Management Programme strengthens pedagogical skills and professional capacity across African port communities.
From 19 to 25 March, a coaching programme for the Francophone network of the TrainForTrade Port Management Programme (PMP) brought together representatives from several African ports. The Port Authority of Kribi participated alongside the ports of Douala, Conakry, Nouakchott and Nouadhibou, in a dynamic of knowledge sharing and skills development.
The Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) took part in a coaching programme organised for the Francophone network of the TrainForTrade Port Management Programme (PMP) from 19 to 25 March. The training brought together professionals from several Francophone African port platforms, including Cameroon, Guinea and Mauritania.
The programme aimed to strengthen participants’ skills in coaching, pedagogical support and knowledge transfer within the framework of the Port Management Programme.
Throughout the training, participants were required to gain a thorough understanding of selected training modules, deliver them to other participants and support representatives from the Port Authorities of Douala and Kribi, Conakry, as well as the ports of Nouakchott and Nouadhibou, in applying the knowledge acquired.
Particular emphasis was also placed on soft skills, which are essential to effective learning and coaching. Verbal communication, consistency between verbal and body language, active listening and openness to constructive dialogue were highlighted as key factors in creating high-quality interactions and supporting learners’ progress.
Beyond technical knowledge, the programme enabled participants to appreciate the importance of an engaged, supportive and constructive teaching approach, particularly in professional environments where knowledge and skills transfer are critical to organisational performance.
At the end of the programme, participants were awarded a Certificate of Competence in Coaching under the Port Management Programme (PMP), recognising the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the training.
Through its participation in this initiative, the Port Authority of Kribi reaffirms the importance it places on skills development, knowledge sharing and the professional development of its staff. This approach contributes to strengthening the human capacities required for sustainable performance and the modernisation of port activities.
The training also helped strengthen cooperation among the various ports within the Francophone PMP network, fostering collaboration, the sharing of best practices and the collective development of port management skills.
