Modernisation of Maritime Communication Infrastructure at the Port of Kribi

Modernisation of Maritime Communication Infrastructure at the Port of Kribi
Strengthening operational efficiency, maritime safety and international connectivity.
From 3 to 11 October 2026, a delegation from the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) conducted a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) at IHM A/S facilities in Søborg, Denmark, for newly acquired maritime communication equipment.
This milestone marks a key step in modernising the port’s communication infrastructure and enhancing the reliability and performance of maritime services.
Upgrading Maritime Communications to Meet Operational Demands
Maritime communications are essential to safe, efficient and reliable port operations. As part of its commitment to continuously improving services to vessels and aligning its infrastructure with international maritime requirements, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) is pursuing the modernisation of its maritime communication systems.
From 3 to 11 October 2026, a PAK delegation visited the manufacturing facilities of IHM A/S in Søborg, Denmark, to conduct a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) on the newly acquired maritime communication equipment.
This test is a key milestone in the port’s modernisation programme. It enables the technical verification of equipment against specified requirements before delivery, installation and commissioning. It also provides an opportunity to assess system performance, verify compliance with the project’s technical specifications and confirm that the equipment meets the port’s operational needs.
Modernising Infrastructure to Improve Operational Performance
As maritime traffic and port activities continue to evolve, reliable communication systems are vital to coordination between vessels, shore-based services and port operations.
Upgrading this infrastructure is therefore a strategic priority for PAK. The initiative aims to strengthen the reliability, availability and performance of maritime communication services while supporting effective coordination among the various stakeholders involved in port operations.
By investing in appropriate technologies, PAK seeks to enhance operational resilience and provide the maritime community with efficient, responsive and high-quality services.
Strengthening Maritime Safety and Service Quality
Reliable ship-to-shore communications play a critical role in operational coordination, the exchange of safety-related information and the delivery of services to vessels calling at the port.
Through this investment, the Port Authority of Kribi reaffirms its commitment to maintaining modern maritime communication infrastructure in line with applicable international standards and best practices. The initiative is intended to contribute to safer port operations, improved service continuity and greater operational efficiency.
Next Steps Towards Implementation
Following the Factory Acceptance Test, the project will proceed to the subsequent implementation stages, including equipment delivery, installation, system integration and commissioning, in accordance with the project schedule and technical requirements.
This initiative forms part of PAK’s broader strategy to strengthen its technical capabilities, improve the quality of its maritime services and consolidate its position as a modern, efficient and competitive port serving Cameroon and the wider Central African region.
