How far does the port domain of Kribi extend? Not so long ago, very few could answer this question precisely. Finally, a presidential decree signed on June 23, 2023 delimiting the public port domain of Kribi has settled this issue regarding public port ownership once and for all.
Article 2 of the text indicates in detail the area of the port domain, which is: 15,000 ha 29a 80ca to be precise. These 15,000 hectares are taken from the 26,000 ha of the Kribi Industrial and Port Complex (CIPK), from which the Port Authority of Kribi originated.
Another important point is the one contained in Article 3, which clearly states that the port domain is now placed under the authority of the Port Authority of Kribi, which ensures its management.
Thus equipped with this presidential pass, the Port Authority of Kribi will now be able to carry out its development policies for this state-owned area with greater assurance and serenity, continue the development of its industrial free zone (ZIP), other activity areas and those which will be devoted to port-city interactions, and protect itself against any infringement.
Potential investors who were still hesitant to set up in the ZIP, due to the lack of a property title for the Port Authority of Kribi, will now be able to fully benefit from the port facilities, easy access to inputs and adequate distribution of manufactured goods to international markets.
