Kribi Industrial Zone, Machine assembly plant in the starting block
The installation of Tractafric Equipment Cameroon will be completed in March 2020 and production will start immediately, according to the General Manager of the company, who visited the construction site in Mboro on Thursday 13 February.
To date, dozens of construction sites are underway in the industrial zone of the Port of Kribi. In perspective, the second quarter of 2020 should see the effective start of production activities of various kinds. This is almost certain with regard to the SEM machine assembly plant. This is an international project, led by Tractafric Equipment Cameroon, the national subsidiary of the industrial, mining and construction equipment specialist and exclusive distributor of Caterpillar, SEM and Manitou equipment in Morocco and Central Africa. Alain DUFOUNIER, General Manager of Tractafric Equipment Cameroon, was in Kribi on Thursday 13 February, for a visit to the assembly plant construction site, which is scheduled for completion in one month, March 2020. According to M. DUFOURNIER, production should start immediately afterwards (second quarter 2020). The objective is: "To provide the Cameroonian market and the entire CEMAC zone with cost-effective machines adapted to the local environment".
Located in the industrial zone of the Port of Kribi, on 3 ha of land, this new entity, a 2 billion F investment, has as its main mission "the production, maintenance of machines and training of operators with a stock of spare parts and an equipped maintenance workshop. It will also service companies that will set up in the port area of Kribi by offering them the maintenance of their generators, machines, trolleys and engines," Tractafric Equipment Cameroon said. It is also stated that 250 machines will be produced per year.
Before going down to his site near completion, Alain DUFOURNIER was received in audience by Patrice MELOM, General Manager of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK), who accompanied him on the site in Mboro. Afterwards, M. DUFOURNIER was given a guided tour of the port facilities, especially the container terminal through which inputs and elements to be assembled will be unloaded.
