Kribi Port Strengthens Diversification with Agro-Industrial Terminal Project

The Port Authority of Kribi and Kribi Oil and Grain Terminal (KOGT S.A.) sign a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a terminal dedicated to agricultural and agro-industrial products.

On 9 October 2026, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) and KOGT S.A. signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of a 9.20-hectare agro-industrial terminal. With a planned storage capacity of 102,000 tonnes, the project aims to diversify port activities, optimize the logistics chain and support job creation.

A New Driver of Diversification for the Port Platform

The Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) is pursuing the diversification of its activities through a project to develop a terminal dedicated to the reception, storage and transportation of agricultural and agro-industrial products.

To this end, PAK and Kribi Oil and Grain Terminal (KOGT S.A.) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 9 October 2026, establishing the framework for their cooperation on the project. This initiative is part of the ongoing development of the Kribi port platform and aims to strengthen its position as a logistics and industrial hub in Central Africa.

Infrastructure Tailored to the Needs of the Agro-Industrial Sector

Planned on a 9.20-hectare site, the future integrated agro-logistics platform will comprise several facilities designed to facilitate cargo handling and storage.

The project includes:

  • 17 silos, with a total storage capacity of 102,000 tonnes;
  • Four warehouses, each covering 5,000 m²;
  • Laboratories dedicated to quality control;
  • Facilities for road transport and equipment maintenance.

The platform will also benefit from access to the deep-water berths, enabling it to accommodate vessels with a capacity of up to 50,000 tonnes.

These facilities are expected to improve the reception, storage and transportation of agricultural and agro-industrial products while facilitating their integration into distribution networks.

Optimizing the Logistics Chain and Enhancing Business Competitiveness

Beyond infrastructure development, the project aims to improve the efficiency of the logistics chain, from vessel unloading to cargo distribution.

The platform is expected to streamline supply operations, improve vessel and truck turnaround times, and help economic operators achieve better control over logistics costs.

By integrating new activities into its service offering, Kribi Port aims to address the specific needs of agricultural and agro-industrial supply chains while expanding the range of uses for its port infrastructure.

A Partnership Combining Industrial and Financial Expertise

The project’s implementation relies on the complementary contributions of three stakeholders.

PAK will leverage its port infrastructure and land assets to accommodate this new activity. KOGT S.A., a consortium bringing together Cameroonian, Swiss and Turkish companies, is responsible for the industrial project. BGFIBank Cameroon is expected to support the project’s financial structuring and coordinate the financing arrangements required for its implementation.

This collaboration aims to bring together the technical, industrial and financial conditions necessary to develop the future platform.

Promising Job Creation Prospects

The project also offers prospects for employment and the development of related activities. Between 600 and 800 jobs are envisaged during the construction phase, followed by approximately 200 jobs during operations. Additional indirect employment opportunities could arise in transport, cargo handling, maintenance and related services.

Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with commissioning planned for 2029, subject to the completion of the required procedures and the mobilization of the necessary funding.

Kribi: A Port Platform with a Diversified Range of Activities

Through this agro-industrial terminal project, the Port Authority of Kribi is continuing to expand its service offering and diversify its activities. This development aims to strengthen the port’s logistics capabilities, support productive sectors and foster synergies between the port, industrial and agricultural sectors.

Through this initiative, PAK reaffirms its ambition to establish the Kribi port platform as a leading hub for transport, logistics and industrial development in Central Africa.
