Bilingualism Week at PAK: Diversity, Cohesion and Openness to the World

The Port of Kribi strengthens the language skills of its human capital to support its international growth

From May 4 to 8, 2026, the Port Authority of Kribi celebrated Bilingualism Week through a series of activities combining awareness, training, operational immersion and the promotion of multiculturalism.

For several days, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) vibrated to the rhythm of bilingualism, cultural diversity and professional integration during the 2026 Bilingualism Week, held from May 4 to 8 with the support of the Yaoundé Pilot Language Training Center.

The activities were officially launched at the Mboro operational site through an awareness campaign led by the General Manager, Patrice Melom. This initiative provided an opportunity for direct exchanges with staff on the strategic importance of mastering both French and English in a port environment that is increasingly open to international markets.

The visit began at the main entrance with security personnel before continuing to the control tower, where teams interact daily with vessels and international operators. These exchanges highlighted an essential reality: in the modern maritime sector, bilingualism is a genuine operational requirement.

In line with its commitment to human capital development, PAK provides its employees with English and French training tailored to their language profiles in order to strengthen communication, efficiency and professional integration at all levels.

As part of this institutional approach, the delegation also visited Talla Bilingual High School and Père Monti College, where students were sensitized to the importance of language learning as a gateway to academic and professional opportunities.

The week continued with several activities combining learning, team spirit and cultural expression: visits to operational sites, meetings with teams, beach soccer, cultural entertainment, as well as the presentations of more than twenty learners who had completed their language training.

The closing ceremony, held on May 8, 2026 under the green-red-yellow colors of the Cameroonian flag, celebrated the richness of multiculturalism within the institution. From top management to operational staff, employees from all regions of the country proudly expressed the diversity that constitutes the strength of the Port Authority of Kribi.

Through his constant presence and involvement throughout the week, the General Manager reaffirmed his determination to make bilingualism a lasting pillar of human performance, inclusion and international openness within PAK.

Beyond a symbolic celebration, this Bilingualism Week reflects a strong institutional vision: building a skilled, united and forward-looking workforce aligned with the standards of a modern, competitive and internationally oriented port.
