MoU Renewed Between PAK and ART

Strengthening cooperation for improved electronic communications around the Port of Kribi

The Kribi Autonomous Port (PAK) and the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding initially signed on June 27, 2018. The new protocol was signed on August 19, 2022 in Kribi by Patrice MELOM, General Manager of PAK, and Professor Philémon ZOO ZAME, General Manager of ART.

The agreement aims to coordinate the installation and operation of electronic communications infrastructure within the area under the jurisdiction of the PAK. Renewed for another three years, it ensures better management of electronic devices and signal quality around the port.

Enhanced Connectivity and Monitoring

The renewed agreement enables:

  • Improved traceability of certified communication equipment installed in and around the port;

  • Enhanced GSM network coverage, particularly along the newly commissioned Kribi–Lolabe highway;

  • Frequent frequency scans to identify signal interference;

  • Better service quality for telecom operators at the port.

Previous Milestones

Key achievements under the former agreement include:

  • Establishing a private optical fiber connection between Kribi Town and Mboro;

  • PAK’s logistical support during ART inspection missions;

  • Acquisition of MMSI numbers and radio licenses to support safe port operations;

  • Timely payment of ART’s regulatory fees by PAK.

This renewed collaboration confirms PAK’s commitment to smart port development and efficient digital infrastructure.
