A Successful Operation at Kribi Multipurpose Terminal

The Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) and its concessionaire, Kribi Multipurpose Terminal (KMT), have once again demonstrated their expertise in handling heavy lifts and industrial project cargo, with the successful unloading of the shell for the CIMPOR cement plant.

A Major Industrial Project

As a reminder, the German company Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions signed an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) contract with the Dutch firm Cimpor Global Holdings for the installation of a clay calcination plant within the new integrated cement plant in Kribi’s port area.

On October 9, the teams from Bolloré Transport & Logistics Cameroon and SOCOPAO successfully handled this key component of the industrial facility.

A Perfectly Executed Technical Operation
  • Location: Kribi Multipurpose Terminal (KMT).

  • Cargo: Cement plant shell weighing 107 tons, a core component of the aggregate grinding unit.

  • Process: Vessel berthed on October 8, departed on October 9, with strict compliance to the 24-hour port stay.

  • Outcome: Operation completed without extended berthing time, thanks to effective coordination and swift customs clearance procedures.

The shipowner, OCEAN7 PROJECTS, expressed satisfaction with the quality of cooperation with SOCOPAO regarding vessel agency services in Cameroon.

Showcasing KMT’s Expertise

According to Kathy MAGNE, General Manager of KMT, this operation highlights the reliability and efficiency of the services provided at Kribi Multipurpose Terminal.
Although conventional cargo traffic reached 83,898 tons in the first half of 2021 – down 36% compared to the same period in 2020 – KMT remains a strategic player in the logistical and industrial development of Kribi’s port platform.
