A strong mobilization of women at the Port of Kribi through engagement, well-being, and solidarity

On the occasion of the 41st International Women’s Day, the Port Authority of Kribi, through the Association of Women of the Port Authority of Kribi, organized a series of impactful activities combining awareness, cohesion, and social engagement.

As part of the 41st edition of International Women’s Day, celebrated under the theme “Rights, Equality, and Empowerment for All Women and Girls,” the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK), through the Association of Women of the Port Authority of Kribi (AFPAK), delivered a week of activities blending institutional commitment with strong human impact.

The program opened with a workplace health awareness session, focusing on medical monitoring, risk prevention, and mental health—key pillars for sustainable productivity. The interactive discussions reflected a growing awareness of the importance of well-being in the workplace.

In the same spirit, a fitness walk brought together many participants along the main streets of Kribi, covering nearly 3 kilometers in a vibrant and friendly atmosphere. This initiative followed an earlier friendly match, which had already set the tone for team spirit and camaraderie throughout the week.

A roundtable on the theme “Women of PAK: competence, equity, and fulfillment” provided a platform for meaningful dialogue. Discussions highlighted the growing presence of women in decision-making roles within a traditionally male-dominated sector, while emphasizing the importance of work-life balance as a driver of both performance and personal fulfillment.

Adding a lighter touch, a Bento cake workshop and a quiz on the PAK created moments of relaxation and engagement. These activities strengthened bonds among participants, culminating in a prize-giving session marked by enthusiasm and shared pride.

At the same time, social outreach initiatives carried out at the maternity ward of the Kribi Central Hospital and at an orphanage brought a deeply emotional dimension to the celebration. On this occasion, AFPAK President Rachel Anouk Mbiam emphasized the importance of solidarity and education as foundations for a better future.

The highlight of the week was the March 8 parade. Despite challenging weather conditions, the women of PAK marched with elegance and confidence, showcasing unity and professionalism. The celebration continued with a convivial gathering featuring speeches and entertainment.

Addressing the participants, Director General Patrice Melom encouraged them to cultivate composure and discipline, while calling on them to actively contribute to mentoring younger generations and promoting essential values.

Beyond the diversity of activities, this week underscored a clear trend: at the Port Authority of Kribi, gender inclusion is not just a commitment—it is a true driver of institutional performance and social transformation.
