Supporting Local Skills and Strengthening Community-Based Production

As part of its CSR commitments, the Port Authority of Kribi has donated a modern food dehydrator to the GIC Espoir de Vie in Bongahele, helping boost local agricultural processing and strengthen the economic autonomy of surrounding communities.

On Wednesday, 15 October 2025, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) officially handed over a food dehydrator to the Common Initiative Group (GIC) Espoir de Vie, located in Bongahele. This initiative reflects PAK’s commitment to supporting local organisations, strengthening productive capacities, and promoting local processing as a driver of sustainable territorial development.

A Structuring and Impactful Contribution

At 3:30 p.m., a delegation from PAK’s Department of Planning and Environment (DAME) arrived at the GIC Espoir de Vie with a brand-new dehydrator, specially selected to meet the needs of this growing agro-food processing unit.

According to Mr. Atek Patrick Mbozoo, Head of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Community Relations Division:

“A dehydrator removes moisture from food without altering it, extending its shelf life while preserving its nutrients and natural flavour.”

Until now, the group relied on a traditional wood-fired oven—a method that often resulted in product losses, inconsistent output, and extended drying times. The new equipment will enable precise moisture extraction, better product preservation, and greater production efficiency.

A Tool for Transformation and Growth

For Ms. Ndjanga Liresse, representative of the GIC Espoir de Vie:

“With this adapted dehydrator, we expect higher quality, greater quantity, and significant time savings.”

With this new capability, the group is now better positioned to consolidate its production, improve competitiveness, and contribute more robustly to the local agro-food value chain.

PAK’s Ongoing Commitment to Community Development

This equipment handover is fully aligned with the Port Authority of Kribi’s CSR vision, which aims to support neighbouring communities through targeted, sustainable, and impactful initiatives.

On that October afternoon in Bongahele, PAK delivered more than just a machine:
it provided a catalyst for transformation, an opportunity for empowerment, and a vector for sustainable development.
