Strategic Infrastructure: Kribi Port to be Linked by Highway
A major step forward with the signing of a PPP agreement between CHEC and the Government of Cameroon.
December 30, 2020 marked a pivotal milestone for the future of the Port of Kribi with the signing of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract between the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) and the Government of Cameroon.
The contract covers the completion of the Kribi-Lolabé highway, a 38.5 km dual carriageway that will provide direct access from the deep-sea port to the national road network. The project, currently 89% completed, is expected to be delivered by next October.
Beyond improving port operations, the highway will be a boon for local communities, opening new avenues for economic growth and regional development.
Local authorities have expressed great satisfaction with this progress, which will boost the appeal of the Kribi port platform and accelerate the country’s logistics integration.
