PAK and Port of Antwerp Renew Their Framework Cooperation Agreement
Strengthened partnership between the Port of Kribi and Port of Antwerp International to support infrastructure development and boost trade.
On July 1st, 2021, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) and Port of Antwerp International (PAI) held a virtual ceremony to renew their Framework Cooperation Agreement. The renewed protocol extends their strategic partnership for another three years, following the expiration of the initial agreement signed in 2018, which ended on June 27, 2021.
The agreement was signed online by Patrice MELOM, Director General of PAK, and Kristof WATERSCHOOT, Director General of PAI. It significantly broadens the scope of the initial cooperation, which had focused on marketing and business development. The new areas of cooperation now include:
-
Technical assistance and consultancy in planning, developing, and constructing port and logistics infrastructure;
-
Promotion of joint investments, aiming to attract companies to operate simultaneously in both ports and their respective economic zones;
-
Engagement with shipping lines to intensify trade flows and maritime traffic between Kribi and Antwerp.
This renewal demonstrates the shared commitment of both ports to deepen their collaboration. The Port of Kribi noted that the expanded agreement reflects “Kribi’s growing port influence” and the “proven expertise of the Port of Antwerp, Europe’s second-largest port and a global leader in port consultancy, management, and overseas investment.”
The new cooperation agreement is now in effect and will remain valid until 2024.
