Improving trade flows along regional transit corridors

On December 6, 2021, the 3rd Tripartite Forum between the Central African Republic (CAR), Chad, and Cameroon officially opened in Bangui, CAR, under the theme “Improving Corridor Fluidity.”

The forum was chaired by the CAR Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, with the participation of Cameroon’s Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLÈ BIBÉHÈ, a representative from Chad’s Ministry of Transport and Road Safety, the Directors General of the Ports of Douala and Kribi, the President of Port Synthèse, and numerous stakeholders from the port and transport sectors.

This high-level meeting aimed to streamline the transit of goods to and from the landlocked countries of CAR and Chad, which rely on Cameroon’s seaports for international trade.
As part of these efforts, rest and service centers have already been built by CNCC along the Douala-Bangui and Douala-Ndjamena corridors, providing truck drivers with clean and secure facilities for rest.

Three days of strategic discussions

Key discussion topics included:

  • development of infrastructure and superstructure,

  • customs and institutional procedures,

  • logistics facilitation,

  • and safety and security across corridors.

On the sidelines of the forum, the President of the Central African Republic, H.E. Archange TOUADERA, granted a courtesy audience to all delegations, including the Cameroonian team led by the Minister of Transport, accompanied by Mr. Patrice MELOM, Director General of the Port Authority of Kribi.
