PAK strengthens its approach to risk prevention and occupational health and safety management
PAK launched its ISO 45001:2018 diagnostic audit on 9 September 2026 in Kribi. The initiative aims to strengthen occupational risk prevention and structure its occupational health and safety management system.
The Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) took a new step on 9 September 2026 towards strengthening its occupational health and safety approach with the launch of the ISO 45001:2018 diagnostic audit.
The opening meeting was held in the meeting room of Annex I in Kribi, bringing together PAK managers and staff, as well as the consulting team from the MAXIMUM SERVICES SARL / PERFORMANCE QUALITÉ Consortium.
Conducted under Contract No. 002/AOIR/PAK/CIPM/2026 of 26 February 2026, the mission is part of the standardisation plan initiated by PAK in 2023. It aims, in particular, to provide an objective assessment of the existing occupational health and safety management system and contribute to the development of an Occupational Health and Safety Action Plan in accordance with the requirements of ISO 45001:2018.
Strong commitment from Management
At the opening of the proceedings, the General Manager of the Port Authority of Kribi welcomed the consulting team, managers and staff involved in the mission.
He welcomed the presence of the MAXIMUM SERVICES SARL / PERFORMANCE QUALITÉ Consortium and highlighted the importance of its expertise and independent perspective in conducting an objective assessment of the existing system.
Management reaffirmed that the protection of the health, safety and integrity of workers, partners and all persons operating on PAK sites is a key priority of the Port’s governance.
This initiative is intended to sustainably strengthen occupational risk prevention, regulatory compliance, worker participation and continuous improvement in occupational health and safety performance.
A process based on collaboration and transparency
The General Manager called on all relevant departments and services, staff representatives and members of the Occupational Health, Safety and Hygiene Committee (CHSST) to demonstrate availability, transparency and cooperation throughout the mission.
PAK teams are expected to facilitate the consultants’ access to the information, documents, facilities and personnel required for the proper conduct of their work, while complying with the security, safety and confidentiality requirements applicable to the Port.
The audit will be conducted in a constructive and participatory spirit. Its purpose is not to seek individual accountability, but to objectively identify existing strengths, potential gaps, priority risks and the actions required to establish an effective occupational health and safety management system suited to PAK’s operational realities and compliant with ISO 45001:2018.
Towards a structured occupational health and safety framework
The diagnostic will assess existing practices, identify potential gaps against the requirements of the standard and determine the main areas for improvement.
It will also contribute to clarifying roles and responsibilities, structuring processes and strengthening coordination among the various stakeholders involved in occupational health and safety.
The objective is therefore to establish a logical and coherent operational framework that promotes better risk management, effective information sharing and regular monitoring of improvement actions.
In a port environment characterised by a wide range of occupations, equipment, facilities and operations, prevention is a major priority. PAK therefore aims to further integrate occupational health and safety into its day-to-day practices and management processes.
A new step in PAK’s standardisation plan
The launch of this diagnostic audit is fully aligned with the standardisation and continuous improvement approach initiated by the Port Authority of Kribi in 2023.
Through this mission, PAK aims to obtain objective findings, practical recommendations and an operational roadmap to consolidate its prevention culture and sustainably improve its occupational health and safety performance.
This initiative reflects the commitment of the Port Authority of Kribi to continuously modernise its practices and build an increasingly safe, well-controlled working environment in line with international standards.
