Cultural immersion and economic opportunities at the 548th edition of the iconic festival
Friday 6 December 2024 marked the official opening of the 548th edition of the NGUON Festival—a major cultural and historical celebration of the Bamoun people, held in the city of Foumban.
The vibrant ceremony was graced by the presence of numerous dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps, administrative officials, and traditional leaders, led by His Majesty the Sultan King of the Bamoun.
Following the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests toured the exhibition stands. The Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) attracted sustained attention from the very first day, showcasing its port potential and the vast opportunities available within the Kribi port ecosystem.
🎓 Engaging with Students:
PAK facilitated inspiring discussions on port-related careers, offering students insight into the diverse job prospects and business sectors developing within the industrial-port zone. These discussions aimed at sparking interest among youths on opportunities offered by the maritime and logistics sectors.
🤝 Business-to-Business Interactions:
In a dedicated B2B setting, PAK held strategic talks with economic operators, highlighting its innovative and competitive logistics and customs and land-related solutions. These meetings focused on how PAK supports import-export activities and the establishment of businesses within the industrial-port zone.
⚖️ A Symbolic Moment: The Judgment of the King
On 7 December 2024, PAK took part in the traditional Judgment of the King—a symbolic ritual where the Monarch publicly accounts for his governance over the past two years. It is a moment of strong customary democracy which is eagerly awaited by a broad cross-section of society.
🎉 Celebrating Until the Final Day
Until the closing ceremony on 9 December, which was marked by the March of Allegiance to the king, PAK continues to actively take part in Nguon 2024, a veritable celebration of Cameroon’s cultural heritage.
By taking part in this major cultural event, the Port Authority of Kribi reaffirms its commitment to national heritage, while strengthening ties with local communities, youth, and economic stakeholders across the country.
