Launch of Kribi Port Industrial Zone: The Future Has Begun
A strategic milestone positioning Kribi as a leading industrial hub in Central Africa
The official launch of the Kribi Port Industrial Zone marks a new era of industrialization driven by competitiveness, partnerships, and long-term vision.
Under the bright skies of Yaoundé on February 26, 2026, a new chapter in Cameroon’s economic history was written with the official launch of the Kribi Port Industrial Zone (KPIZ).
Presided over by Patrice Melom, General Manager of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) and Chairman of KPIZ S.A., the ceremony symbolized the country’s entry into a new phase of industrialization built on competitiveness and strategic cooperation.
Alongside the Chairman, key shareholders highlighted the strength of this public-private partnership: Olivier de Noray, Director of Ports and Terminals at Africa Global Logistics (AGL); Patrick Lawson, CEO Logistics at Arise IIP; and Colin Mukete, President of Belmont Investments. Together, they embody a powerful alliance committed to making Kribi a leading industrial hub in Central Africa.
The ceremony was marked by a strong message of confidence and forward-looking ambition. Speaking on behalf of the shareholders, Olivier de Noray praised the vision of the Port Authority of Kribi and the Government of Cameroon, stating: “Let’s meet again in ten years to measure the remarkable expansion ahead.” His remarks underscored the partners’ determination to anchor KPIZ as a long-term driver of economic transformation.
The Kribi model is already gaining international recognition. Representing the African Development Bank, Léandre Bassole highlighted the project’s innovative approach: an integrated ecosystem where port infrastructure, logistics, and industry operate in synergy. For the institution, KPIZ goes beyond a conventional economic zone—it is a catalyst for industrial growth, capable of attracting value-added industries and enhancing Cameroon’s global competitiveness.
In his keynote address, Patrice Melom reaffirmed the strategic vision underpinning the project, aligning it with the ambitions of Paul Biya for a modern, industrialized, and competitive Cameroon. He emphasized that KPIZ represents a cornerstone of the country’s future—designed to create value, generate employment, and attract large-scale investments within a sustainable framework.
A new face is already shaping this vision: Yves Roger Melingui, the first Managing Director of KPIZ S.A. Representing a new generation of Cameroonian leadership, he embodies rigor, innovation, and ambition. Under his leadership, KPIZ is set to emerge as a space of innovation and shared prosperity.
With the launch of KPIZ, the Port Authority of Kribi reinforces its role as a key driver of Cameroon’s structural economic transformation. Built on a clear vision and strong governance, this initiative paves the way for integrated industrial development—supporting employment, growth, and long-term competitiveness.
The future has begun. And it is taking shape in Kribi—where ambition meets execution, and vision turns into reality.
