Civic engagement and career awareness at the heart of the 2025 Diocesan Youth Days

During the Diocesan Youth Days in Sangmélima, the Port Authority of Kribi inspired more than 1,500 young people through hands-on workshops, career guidance sessions, and community support initiatives—reaffirming its commitment to empowering Cameroon’s youth.

From August 4 to 11, the city of Sangmélima, particularly the locality of Pkwang, hosted the 2025 Diocesan Youth Days (JDJ), a major gathering that brought together over 1,500 young people from the seven pastoral zones of the diocese.

Held under the theme of moral rearmament, awareness, and open-mindedness, the event provided a rich platform for dialogue and youth empowerment in the face of contemporary challenges. Throughout the week, participants engaged in a diverse program combining spiritual, educational, and recreational activities. Football tournaments, athletic competitions, choir contests, and artistic performances energized the event, fostering creativity, team spirit, and unity.

Among the highlights of this edition was the participation of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK). As part of its strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the PAK facilitated two interactive workshop sessions dedicated to showcasing careers within the port sector. Hundreds of young people—graduates, students, and those seeking orientation—benefited from valuable insights shared by PAK representatives from the Department of Planning and Environment (DAME), the Harbormaster’s Office, the Human Resources Department, and the Communication Unit. Through dynamic exchanges and inspiring testimonies, the workshops shed light on a port environment that is often little-known yet rich with professional opportunities.

Building on this engagement, the PAK also organized a formal distribution of school supplies to a hundred young beneficiaries—an act of solidarity aimed at supporting academic progress and fostering perseverance.

Through its proactive and supportive involvement, the Port Authority of Kribi and the Diocese of Sangmélima reaffirm their shared commitment to nurturing an informed, responsible, and proactive generation, capable of shaping its own future.
