An immersive week at PAK to train the next generation of port managers and strengthen skills in international trade and logistics.

From September 22 to 27, 2025, the Kribi Autonomous Port (PAK) hosted the 16th cohort of the Train for Trade Program by UNCTAD. Through port visits, thematic sessions, and exchanges with experts, participants explored PAK’s modern facilities and strengthened their skills to become agents of change in the maritime sector.

As part of UNCTAD’s Train for Trade Program, the Kribi Autonomous Port (PAK) had the honor of hosting the 16th cohort from September 22 to 27, 2025, for a high-value study visit.

This professional immersion, designed as an extension of academic work, aimed to consolidate knowledge, refine expertise, and foster the emergence of a new generation of port professionals.

On Monday, September 22, the opening ceremony was held at Le Lagon Resort Hotel in Kribi. During a roundtable, experts and trainees engaged in constructive dialogue, punctuated by presentations and open exchanges, laying the foundation for a week dedicated to sharing and learning.

The following days were devoted to thematic sessions led by specialists in international trade, port management, and logistics. These sessions allowed participants to deepen their understanding of maritime competitiveness and the efficiency of logistics chains.

Thursday, September 26, marked a highlight of the program with a guided tour of the Mboro port site. Trainees explored modern facilities, ongoing expansion projects, and innovations that position Kribi as a leading port hub in Central Africa. Technical demonstrations and on-site observations reinforced practical learning.

The week concluded on Saturday, September 27, with a farewell breakfast. Participants praised PAK’s warm welcome, the quality of the program, and UNCTAD’s commitment to developing port management talent.

Beyond an academic visit, this immersion at the Kribi Autonomous Port proved transformative, showcasing talent and fostering future leaders. Participants leave equipped, inspired, and ready to drive change in a rapidly evolving maritime sector.

This study visit fully aligns with the philosophy of the Train for Trade Program, which aims to equip professionals with the tools necessary to meet the challenges of international trade.
