Productive exchanges with DESMI on combating marine oil spill pollution
The Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) recently held a series of meetings with DESMI, one of the world leaders in the design and supply of equipment to combat accidental oil spills in water.
A responsible commitment
Operating in an environment marked by the presence of offshore oil platforms, PAK has for several years engaged in a proactive approach to integrate into the National Oil Spill Contingency Plan (PNLDAH).
This plan sets out a key regulatory framework for environmental protection in Cameroon.
A structured approach
-
The first step was to establish collaboration with the Pipeline Steering and Monitoring Committee (CPSP), which coordinates the PNLDAH and operates under the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH).
-
Continuous exchanges with this Committee led last year to the validation of PAK’s oil spill contingency plan.
-
Its implementation, currently in the experimental phase, prioritizes the acquisition and deployment of specialized equipment: containment booms, skimmers, absorbents, dispersants, etc.
A fruitful collaboration with DESMI
This week’s working sessions with DESMI representatives – Henrik Knudsen, Josselyne Conradsen, and Frands Pilegaard Jensen – marked a decisive step forward.
These exchanges strengthen confidence that PAK is making significant progress toward achieving its environmental protection objectives.
A sustainable vision
The Port Authority of Kribi continues to reaffirm its position as a modern, safe, and environmentally responsible port, firmly committed to preserving nature and contributing to Cameroon’s sustainable economic growth 🇨🇲.
