A new weighbridge service to strengthen logistics control and road safety

The Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) has reached another milestone in the modernisation of its logistics services. A2I Sarl, an IT and industrial solutions company, has been issued a Temporary Occupancy Permit (AOT) to install and operate a new weighbridge facility at the Mboro port site. This strategic project will help reducing road overloading, preserving road infrastructure, and enhancing the safety of trade corridors linking Kribi to Central Africa.

A Strategic Tool for Port Logistics

The weighbridge will ensure strict control of heavy-duty vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, including axle load, total weight, and vehicle size. According to Patrice MELOM, PAK’s General Manager, the service will strengthen the security of key transport corridors serving Eastern Cameroon, Chad, and the Central African Republic.

Addressing the Challenge of Road Overloading

Road overloading remains one of the main causes of premature infrastructure damage. World Bank data shows it accounts for nearly 60% of early road deterioration in Sub-Saharan Africa. In Cameroon, a study by the Ministry of Public Works (MINTP) estimates that one overloaded truck equals the damage of 30,000 light vehicles—a figure that underscores the need for strict weight monitoring.

A2I: A Reliable Partner with Proven Expertise

Under the leadership of Nana Walter Ghislain, A2I has already demonstrated its expertise in the transport sector. In 2020, the company was awarded a contract to rehabilitate and secure fixed radars on the Douala-Yaoundé highway, valued at more than 291.9 million CFA francs (incl. VAT).

A Vision for the Future

With this new project, A2I is committed to delivering reliable, fast, and internationally compliant weighing services, supporting the Port of Kribi’s growth as a regional logistics hub.

This initiative reflects a broader ambition: modernizing logistics controls and enhancing road safety in Cameroon, in line with the government’s efforts to preserve national road infrastructure.
