PAK Entrusts MATGENIE with the Management of its Construction Projects
A strategic partnership to support the expansion of the Port of Kribi
On September 27, 2019, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) and the National Civil Engineering Equipment Pool (MATGENIE) signed a three-year renewable partnership agreement for the management of PAK’s construction projects. This collaboration marks a significant step in the development and expansion of the Kribi Industrial and Port Complex.
Key areas of the agreement
The agreement, signed by Patrice MELOM, General Manager of PAK, and Désiré Abogo NTANG, General Manager of MATGENIE, covers four main aspects:
-
Provision by MATGENIE of civil engineering equipment at preferential rates.
-
Execution of civil and mechanical engineering works entrusted by PAK, in collaboration with its port community partners.
-
Training and professional development of PAK’s technical staff in MATGENIE’s vocational training centers.
-
Execution of any other contracts between both parties.
Mutual benefits
For Désiré Abogo NTANG, this partnership is “a very good initiative,” as it provides business opportunities for MATGENIE while securing its re-equipment project of nearly 700 machines financed through public funds.
On his part, Patrice MELOM emphasized MATGENIE’s expertise and wide operational scope:
“MATGENIE has an expanded field of action that enables it to be present in public works projects across Cameroon, with professional teams, state-of-the-art equipment, and advanced training centers for new technologies in driving, maintenance, and repair of heavy machinery.”
A collaboration geared toward the future
This partnership aligns with the expansion project of the Port of Kribi, which already foresees significant new investments this year aimed at strengthening its logistics offer, including the establishment of dedicated logistics zones for different types of traffic.
With this agreement, PAK becomes the second national institution, after the Ministry of Public Works, to officially entrust MATGENIE with the management of its construction projects.
