PAK Enforces Ballast Water Regulations to Protect Marine Ecosystems
As a result of the negative impacts on the marine environment caused by ballast water discharges from ships, the PAK strictly
observes the provisions of the Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention by the state of Cameroon’s presidential decree
No 2020/240 which is in adherence to the International BWM Convention of February 13, 2004.
The Convention aims to prevent the spread of harmful aquatic organisms from one region to another and halt damage to the
marine environment from ballast water discharge, by minimizing the uptake and subsequent discharge of sediments and organisms.
