Towards an Ethical Port: PAK Strengthens Its Anti-Corruption Framework
Presentation of the Diagnostic Findings on PAK’s Anti-Corruption System in line with ISO 37001 Standards
As part of its commitment to good governance and integrity, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) is taking decisive steps towards implementing an Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) in compliance with ISO 37001:2016, thereby reinforcing transparency, compliance, and stakeholder trust.
Since its establishment in March 2006, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (CONAC) has been leading efforts to promote transparency and combat corruption across Cameroon. As a key public enterprise, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) fully supports this national initiative through the creation of its Anti-Corruption Unit (CAC) in April 2019.
The CAC, under the supervision of PAK’s General Management, regularly conducts awareness campaigns, training sessions, and communication initiatives to promote integrity among employees and port users.
In line with its goal to comply with international standards and continuously improve its governance system, PAK engaged Deloitte in 2024 to conduct a diagnostic review of its current anti-corruption framework. This mission, based on document analysis and stakeholder interviews, aimed to assess PAK’s maturity level regarding the requirements of the ISO 37001 standard.
The presentation workshop of the diagnostic findings took place on April 1, 2025, at the Sky Kenako Hotel in Kribi, in the presence of representatives from General Management, the Anti-Corruption Unit, and Deloitte’s consulting team.
The discussions highlighted the current strengths of PAK’s anti-corruption system, identified areas for improvement, and outlined key recommendations to enhance compliance and effectiveness.
Among the key recommendations were:
-
Updating the composition and operational framework of the Anti-Corruption Unit;
-
Expanding awareness campaigns across all PAK operational sites;
-
Establishing a toll-free hotline for reporting corruption cases;
-
Training CAC members on ISO 37001 Lead Implementer certification;
-
Developing a formal anti-corruption policy, including gift and conflict-of-interest guidelines;
-
Designing a corruption risk mapping framework;
-
Conducting benchmarking visits to certified organizations, such as Morocco’s Capital Market Authority.
These initiatives form part of the CAC’s 2025 Action Plan and reflect PAK’s firm commitment to integrating ethics and integrity into all its operations.
The Port Authority of Kribi thus reaffirms its determination to foster a transparent, ethical, and responsible business environment — aligned with international best practices and contributing to sustainable and exemplary port governance.
