The Port of Kribi Soon to Be Linked to Southern Cameroon’s Agricultural Basins
Signing of the contract for the construction of the Ebolowa – Akom II – Kribi road
On December 3, 2019, the Government of Cameroon signed the commercial contract for the construction of the Ebolowa – Akom II – Kribi road. Stretching 179.28 km, this infrastructure, entrusted to the Italian company ICM-CMC, will strengthen the Port of Kribi’s connectivity with agricultural basins and open new corridors to Gabon and Congo.
A strategic infrastructure for opening up production areas
This new road will help open up the agricultural production zones of Southern Cameroon by facilitating the transport of goods to the Port of Kribi. It represents a major step forward in enhancing local resources and improving the logistics chain.
A port hub better connected to its hinterland
By directly linking Ebolowa, Akom II, and Kribi, this strategic axis will reinforce the port’s integration with its hinterland. Trade flows to Gabon and Congo will also benefit from this new route, contributing to regional integration dynamics in Central Africa.
An opportunity to boost the Port of Kribi’s competitiveness
With this connection, the Port Authority of Kribi will be positioned as an essential logistics platform for both national and sub-regional trade. This infrastructure is part of the modernization and competitiveness vision supported by the Cameroonian authorities and technical partners.
