A strong commitment by PAK to maritime safety and security in Central Africa

On January 22, 2023, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) participated in the inaugural Steering Committee (COPIL) meeting of the Support Programme for the Strategy on Maritime Safety and Security in Central Africa (PASSMAR), held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

On January 22, 2023, the city of Kinshasa hosted the very first meeting of the Steering Committee (COPIL) of the Support Programme for the Strategy on Maritime Safety and Security of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) — known as PASSMAR.

Upon the invitation of His Excellency, the President of the ECCAS Commission, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) took part in the session, represented by its Harbour Master, reaffirming the active involvement of the private sector in regional maritime governance.

During the session, a multidisciplinary COPIL bureau was established to guide the programme’s implementation. Discussions focused on the presentation of activity reports by technical partners, including the PASSMAR Regional Workshop, DAI Global Austria GmbH & Co KG (Technical Assistance), and the UNODC, followed by the review and validation of the revised work plan and key recommendations.

The meeting concluded with the official adoption of the Steering Committee’s report.

The next COPIL meeting is scheduled for February 25, 2023, also in Kinshasa, alongside the First Maritime Conference of Heads of State and Government and the 22nd Ordinary Session of the ECCAS Conference of Heads of State and Government.
