The Port Authority of Kribi Ready to Welcome the Giants of the Seas!

A new era begins with the upcoming arrival of 400-meter MEGAMAX vessels in Kribi.

In preparation for the inaugural calls of MEGAMAX vessels, the Port Autonome de Kribi (PAK) was invited to the headquarters of the world leader in maritime transport, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, in Geneva. These strategic exchanges and advanced simulations mark a decisive milestone toward welcoming, for the very first time in Central Africa, these 400-meter container giants.

This invitation reflects the recognition of PAK’s professionalism and its strategic position within the Central African maritime landscape.

The agenda included high-level meetings, advanced operational simulations at MSC’s operations center, and in-depth technical discussions on key topics such as port maneuver safety, vessel security, and the optimization of terminal operations in Kribi.

High-precision simulations in Geneva

Ahead of the first MEGAMAX vessel’s berthing at the Port Autonome de Kribi, scheduled for May next year, PAK participated in advanced simulation sessions for the maneuvering of these mega ships using the state-of-the-art simulator located at MSC’s headquarters in Geneva.

This cutting-edge tool allows teams to anticipate, test, and optimize the conditions for welcoming these giants of the seas while ensuring maximum safety, efficiency, and operational fluidity during their future calls at Kribi.

A major first for Central Africa

The upcoming arrival of 400-meter-long MEGAMAX vessels, capable of carrying up to 23,600 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units), firmly places Kribi among the world’s leading ports.

This milestone confirms the rising prominence of the Port Autonome de Kribi and its commitment to meeting the highest international standards.

A strengthened strategic partnership

The Port Autonome de Kribi returns from Geneva proud of the progress achieved, reassured by the strength of its partnership with Kribi Conteneurs Terminal (KCT) and MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, and fully prepared to open a new chapter in its development in service of Maritime Cameroon.

Special thanks to all the partners involved for their dedication, expertise, and shared vision of a port that continues to evolve as a modern, safe, and high-performing maritime hub for the region.
