PAK strengthens its commitment to digital transformation and continental innovation.
On 19 November 2025, the Port Authority of Kribi took part in the AI4Africa Ignition international webinar on artificial intelligence in Africa, reaffirming its ambition to place innovation at the core of its port performance.
On 19 November 2025, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) participated in an international webinar hosted by AI4Africa Ignition, a Pan-African platform dedicated to democratizing knowledge and opportunities related to artificial intelligence (AI).
This first session of the AI4Africa Ignition webinar series focused on the theme: “AI in Africa: Current State and Future Perspectives.”
A space for dialogue on the challenges and opportunities of AI
The virtual event brought together more than 80 participants from various African countries, including researchers, experts, entrepreneurs, and institutional representatives.
Its objective was to provide a clear overview of the development of artificial intelligence across the continent, identify the major challenges—such as infrastructure gaps, insufficient training, and data governance issues—while highlighting the promising opportunities AI presents for Africa’s growth.
Moderated by Dr. Ahmed Kensi, the panel featured several distinguished experts, including Soulaimane Amri, Sokhar Samb, Dr. Tidiane Sylla, Emmanuel Elolo, and Habib Iya, Head of the Port Authority of Kribi’s representation in Douala (Cameroon).
PAK’s intervention: innovation driving port performance
Speaking on behalf of the Port Authority of Kribi, Mr. Habib Iya presented the institution’s vision regarding innovation and digital transformation.
He emphasized the strategic role of artificial intelligence in modernizing the port sector through:
-
data collection and analysis to optimize logistics flows;
-
the digitalization of operational processes to enhance performance and safety;
-
collaboration with technology actors to develop solutions tailored to African realities.
For PAK, innovation is not merely an operational tool—it is a long-term strategic approach aimed at strengthening competitiveness, improving service quality, and ensuring sustainable port operations.
A commitment to openness and ecosystem building
PAK’s participation in this webinar reflects its commitment to openness and co-construction with academic, technological, and industrial communities.
By fostering dialogue and collaboration, the Port contributes to the development of an intelligent port ecosystem capable of driving growth and generating employment.
A vision for a connected and competitive Africa
Through its involvement in this initiative led by AI4Africa Ignition, the Port Authority of Kribi reaffirms its role as a key player in inclusive digital transformation and in building an Africa equipped to produce its own technological solutions.
This commitment is part of a long-term vision: to position the Port of Kribi as a modern, innovative logistics hub supporting economic development and Africa’s digital sovereignty.
