Strengthening PAK’s role in Africa’s economic integration
On 03 December 2020, during the 5th annual meeting organized by the Africa Economic Zones Organization (AEZO), the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) was officially elected as a member of AEZO’s Steering Committee, securing 58% of the votes. This milestone marks a significant step in PAK’s ambition to position itself as a strategic hub for trade, logistics, and investment in Africa.
According to PAK, this membership represents a major opportunity. It will allow the Port Authority to refine the implementation of its own economic zone through knowledge and experience sharing, while also opening doors to a wide range of business opportunities and potential partnerships thanks to AEZO’s international business networks.
Founded in November 2015 by the Tanger Med Group, AEZO brings together the leading public and private institutions responsible for developing, managing, and promoting economic zones across Africa. Today, the association counts nearly 80 members from 45 countries. Its mission is to encourage the collective sharing of knowledge, provide strategic and technical support, facilitate connections with international business ecosystems, and promote sustainable economic models and practices.
As Patrice Melom, Managing Director of the Port Authority of Kribi, proudly stated:
“As a member of the Steering Committee of this prestigious network, PAK intends to make a significant contribution to the development of economic zones in Africa and, in doing so, help raise the international profile of Cameroon, particularly in the port sector.”
The election of PAK to the AEZO Steering Committee is a recognition of its growing role in the African port and logistics ecosystem, and a strategic step in positioning Kribi as a gateway of excellence for trade and investment in Central Africa.
