The State to supervise mining infrastructure management

On April 18, 2023, Professor Fuh Calistus Gentry, Acting Secretary of State at the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, chaired a high-level working session at the Head Office of the Autonomous Port of Kribi (PAK).

The meeting brought together the Governor of the South Region, the Senior Divisional Officer of Ocean Division, and the Directors General of PAK, SONAMINES, and Sinosteel.

✅ State-supervised mineral terminal management confirmed

The main decision: the mineral terminal at Kribi will now be managed under direct state oversight, ensuring transparency, security, and alignment with national development priorities.

For Sinosteel, three essential project milestones were set as non-negotiable prerequisites before groundbreaking:

  1. Open-pit mine must be operational;

  2. Ore enrichment plant must be functional;

  3. Access roads must be fully rehabilitated.

The session concluded with a group photo, symbolizing institutional alignment and a shared vision for responsible mining operations in Kribi.
