Strategic Masterclass on Port Performance in Kribi

The Port Authority of Kribi analyses global maritime and logistics strategy shifts

On 15 December 2025, the Port Authority of Kribi hosted a high-level Strategic Masterclass focused on global maritime, port and logistics strategy trends, with the objective of strengthening anticipation, resilience and performance within the Kribi port community.

On Monday, 15 December 2025, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) held a Strategic Masterclass dedicated to recent developments in international maritime, port and logistics strategies, as well as their implications and future outlook for the Kribi port community.

Led by Yann Alix, a recognized expert in maritime and port affairs, the session brought together PAK staff, port community stakeholders and economic partners in a constructive setting designed to foster strategic reflection and open dialogue.

Discussions focused primarily on the challenge of uncertainty. The speaker emphasized the need for ports to understand and adapt to a global environment increasingly shaped by the VUCA World (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity), a framework that has become essential for building resilient and forward-looking strategies.

The role of performance management through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) was also highlighted as a critical tool for anticipating shocks, steering operational efficiency and planning for the future.

Participants further examined the oligopolistic structure of port call networks. In this context, relationships between shipping lines and terminal operators were presented not merely as constraints, but as opportunities for connectivity, collaboration and value creation for the port community as a whole.

The Port of Kribi was commended for its strategic foresight, particularly its ability to create and structure its own market. The expert also stressed the importance of heightened strategic vigilance for ports, identified as a key factor in sustaining competitiveness and long-term performance.

Finally, attention was drawn to the port’s land availability, viewed as a major asset that must be integrated into a comprehensive development model combining road and rail connectivity, industrial cohesion and optimal human capital development.

This insightful and inspiring Masterclass reinforced the Port Authority of Kribi’s vision of excellence, grounded in anticipation, innovation and the ability to navigate the profound transformations shaping the global maritime industry.
