Port Security: US Coast Guard Commends Progress at Kribi Port

A successful inspection reinforces maritime security cooperation

On October 26, 2022, the Kribi Autonomous Port (PAK) welcomed a delegation from the United States Coast Guard for a working stopover.

The visit was part of the ongoing bilateral cooperation between Cameroon and the USA in the field of port and maritime security.

The delegation’s mission was to inspect the security measures in place at the port. This included reviewing access control systems, surveillance protocols, ISPS Code implementation, and evaluating how the port has responded to recommendations from their last visit in July 2021.

Noticeable improvements

The visiting officers expressed satisfaction with the progress made since their previous evaluation. They particularly acknowledged Kribi Port’s commitment to strengthening ISPS Code compliance through enhanced equipment, ongoing personnel training, and improved security protocols.

The team praised local authorities for their dedication to ensuring the safety of port facilities against modern maritime threats, including terrorism, illicit trafficking, and environmental risks.
