PAK contributes to sub-regional efforts on maritime digital transformation in Abidjan

From 9 to 12 December in Abidjan, the Port Autonome de Kribi took part in a sub-regional workshop dedicated to the implementation of the Maritime Single Window, a key International Maritime Organization instrument aimed at modernizing and digitalizing port procedures across Africa.

African countries are stepping up their efforts to advance the digital transition of the maritime sector through the progressive implementation of the Maritime Single Window (MSW). In this context, a sub-regional workshop was held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 9 to 12 December, bringing together delegations from twelve French-speaking African countries.

The workshop was organized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), in partnership with the Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP), the World Bank, and the Ministry of Transport of Côte d’Ivoire. Its objective was to support IMO Member States in understanding and implementing this new mandatory instrument.

The Maritime Single Window is a centralized digital platform that enables secure and transparent data exchange between ships and relevant government agencies. It simplifies procedures related to ship arrival, stay, and departure, improves data quality, reduces processing times and logistics costs, and enhances the competitiveness of African ports.

The Port Autonome de Kribi (PAK) actively participated in these discussions as part of the Cameroonian delegation, alongside the Single Window for Foreign Trade Operations (GUCE). This participation reflects PAK’s strong commitment to modernizing port procedures and aligning Cameroon’s port ecosystem with international standards on trade facilitation.

Through its involvement, PAK reaffirmed its determination to support the digitalization of the national port community system, strengthen coordination among public and private stakeholders, and contribute to the development of a more efficient, transparent, and resilient port environment.

By engaging in this regional initiative, the Port Autonome de Kribi confirms its position as a modern, forward-looking port, driven by innovation and fully committed to enhancing Cameroon’s competitiveness within global maritime and logistics value chains.
