Patrice MELOM Takes the Helm of Port-Synthèse for a Three-Year Term

On April 1, 2022, during the 12th General Assembly of Port-Synthèse held at the Port Authority of Douala headquarters, Patrice MELOM, Director General of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK), was officially elected President of the National Port Community for a three-year mandate.

Key Highlights of the Assembly

The assembly focused on the renewal of statutory bodies and the handover of leadership to the DG of PAK. In compliance with statutory provisions, a resolution was passed to increase the number of associate members from five to eight, ensuring broader representation.

New Members and Governance

Two new associate members were admitted: the High-Level Group for Transport and Road Safety in the CEMAC Zone (GHN) and Douala Port Weighing Services (DPWS). The assembly also confirmed the participation of the Urban Communities of Kribi and Douala and the Municipality of L’Imbé on the Board.

Strategic Commitments

In his inaugural speech, Mr. Patrice MELOM pledged to:

  • Enhance port competitiveness through digitalization and simplified procedures.

  • Promote and expand Maritime Business Centers in CEMAC countries.

  • Ensure effective collection of contributions to support the Port-Synthèse Board budget.
