Partnership, innovation, and cooperation at the heart of the West and Central African port community

From 6 to 9 November 2023, Lagos, Nigeria, hosted the 43rd Annual Council of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA) and the 18th Roundtable of Director Generals. The event brought together key maritime stakeholders from across the continent to discuss innovation, cooperation, and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

This high-level gathering brought together port authorities, government representatives, and maritime experts from across Africa to exchange views on innovation, trade facilitation, and regional integration within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The sessions featured presentations, speeches, interactive Q&A panels, parallel meetings, and networking opportunities, all centered around the future of maritime transport and port management in Africa.

Participants unanimously reaffirmed the importance of strengthening regional partnerships, fostering knowledge exchange, and promoting sustainable innovation, with the shared goal of building more efficient and integrated port systems across the continent.

The event concluded on a note of optimism and determination, driven by a collective commitment to position West and Central African ports as key players in global trade.
