PAK Welcomes Back ASAF Lines with the Arrival of CMA Cendrillion
A Milestone for Kribi Container Terminal and Regional Trade
On August 17, 2020, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) proudly welcomed back the Asia West Africa Service (ASAF) with the arrival of the CMA Cendrillion, a 334-meter vessel with a draught of 13.9 meters and a carrying capacity of 8,465 TEU. This event marks a significant step in reaffirming Kribi’s status as a deep-sea hub and logistics gateway in the Gulf of Guinea.
CMA Cendrillion at Kribi
The reception of the CMA Cendrillion at the Kribi Container Terminal (KCT) illustrates the port’s ability to handle large-scale vessels with efficiency and precision. Operated under the ASAF maritime service by CMA CGM, in partnership with Maersk and NileDutch, this service connects Asia directly to Africa and is one of the key shipping routes for containerized trade between the two regions.
A Boost for Regional Trade and Integration
Through ASAF, economic operators in Cameroon, Chad, and the Central African Republic now benefit from more favorable transit times for goods to and from Asia. This renewed connection positions Kribi as a central node for regional trade, enhancing its role as a transshipment hub in Central Africa.
Strategic Confidence in Kribi
The return of ASAF Lines underscores the confidence of major global shipping players in Kribi’s modern infrastructure, deep-sea capabilities, and strategic positioning along the West African coast. By accommodating vessels of this scale, the PAK strengthens its ambition to become a reference maritime operator in the Gulf of Guinea and a catalyst for regional economic growth.
