PAK Strengthens Its Occupational Health and Safety Approach through NEBOSH Certification

Committed to a sustainable prevention policy, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) is investing in training and system structuring to strengthen occupational health and safety. The NEBOSH certification achieved by its teams marks a key milestone toward ISO 45001 compliance.

As part of its ongoing effort to reinforce its Health, Safety, and Hygiene policy, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) pursued in 2024 a structured initiative led by its Occupational Health, Safety, and Hygiene Committee (CHSST), officially inaugurated on July 5, 2023, by the Labour Administration.

In compliance with national and international regulations, the CHSST’s activities in 2024 focused on three main areas: training, awareness, and the structuring of a management system.

A major highlight of the year was the NEBOSH IGC (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health – International General Certificate) training, one of the world’s most prestigious certifications in occupational health and safety.
This program enabled PAK teams to strengthen their risk management skills, understand the fundamentals of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), and adopt internationally recognized best practices.

Additionally, the CHSST participated in the International Day for Occupational Health and Safety in Douala and conducted benchmark visits to SONARA, the Port Authority of Douala, and the CNPS in Yaoundé.

These initiatives lay the groundwork for the implementation of an OHS Management System compliant with ISO 45001, planned for 2025–2026.
Through this proactive approach, the Port Authority of Kribi reaffirms its commitment to providing a safe, healthy, and exemplary work environment for all.
