Strengthening navigation safety and traffic fluidity

From September 26 to October 06, 2019, a delegation from the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK), led by the Technical Director and the Director of Information Systems, carried out a mission in Valencia, Spain, at the premises of Mediterráneo Señales Marítimas (MSM). This initiative was aimed at optimizing maritime safety and ensuring smooth traffic within PAK’s public domain.

Factory reception and equipment testing

The mission focuses on the factory acceptance of maritime signaling buoys through a series of technical tests, including:

  • Buoyancy tests,

  • Endurance trials.

The equipment includes:

  • Special mark buoys, used to indicate danger and work zones,

  • Safe water buoys, notably marking the pilot boarding area.

Training and knowledge transfer

During this period, PAK engineers are also receiving specialized training on:

  • The maintenance of buoys, certified by the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA),

  • The use and monitoring of remote-control systems installed on these devices.

A step toward operational excellence

This initiative reflects PAK’s commitment to ensuring safe and smooth navigation at the Kribi port area by integrating modern equipment compliant with international standards.
