On Friday, September 13, 2024, the Harbormaster’s Office of the Port of Kribi, led by Commander NDI Mendugena Bertrand, hosted an Open Day event on the forecourt of the PAK buildings (R+2), under the theme:

“Cutting-edge security for a safe port”

A ceremonial launch highlighting strategic priorities

The event was presided over by Mr. Patrice MELOM, Director General of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK). After the national anthem was performed, the Port Commander welcomed guests, followed by a speech from the DG who emphasized the crucial role of advanced security systems in port performance and reputation.

Interactive exhibitions and live demonstrations

Attendees were taken on a guided tour of various stands, animated by key port security stakeholders:

  • Access control services

  • The Command and Control Center

  • Port officers and masters

  • Gendarmerie, police, and customs services

Each team presented its missions, procedures, and technologies, offering a practical view of the coordinated efforts made daily to ensure port safety and prevent risks.

A message of synergy from top leadership

In his remarks, the Director General applauded the Harbormaster’s initiative, reaffirming that security and safety are critical levers of port competitiveness. He called for stronger collaboration among all security actors to anticipate vulnerabilities and protect the port’s integrity.
