Kribi Port Recognized as a Facility Aligned with Humanitarian Standards

As part of the operational follow-up of its logistics activities in Cameroon, the World Food Programme (WFP) held a strategic working session on September 5, 2025, with officials of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) at the PAK Representation Office in Douala. The main objective was to reinforce the framework for collaboration, present the Port of Kribi’s upgraded operational capabilities, and identify concrete opportunities for partnership in logistics and port operations.

A Shared Commitment to Strengthening Logistical Efficiency

Driven by its humanitarian mission with significant social impact, the WFP emphasized its commitment to relying on dependable, efficient, and strategically located logistics platforms to optimize aid distribution across the subregion. The organization highlighted the growing need for adaptive logistics solutions to effectively respond to beneficiary needs.

In this regard, the Port Authority of Kribi positioned itself as a trusted logistics partner that meets international standards required for managing large-scale humanitarian flows. The meeting provided an opportunity to explore potential collaboration areas in a spirit of constructive dialogue and strategic alignment.

A Convergence of Interests for Greater Impact

During the discussions, the Port Authority of Kribi showcased its logistical and technical capabilities, making it a key gateway for trade and humanitarian assistance in Central Africa:

• A natural depth of -16 meters, enabling the safe berthing of large-capacity vessels;

• Modern and competitive infrastructure, including logistics zones, compliant warehouses, and port facilities meeting international standards;

• Seamless port operations, supported by digitalized customs procedures and multimodal connectivity with inland and cross-border transport corridors.

These features make the Port of Kribi ideally suited to meet the WFP’s operational requirements in terms of speed, traceability, and secure handling of humanitarian cargo.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue discussions toward formalizing a structured operational partnership. Talks are underway to launch joint initiatives, including pilot projects, capacity-building programs, and coordinated emergency-response mechanisms.

A Strategic Vision Aligned with National Development Goals

This emerging collaboration between the PAK and the WFP is fully aligned with the Government of Cameroon’s policy priorities, which emphasize the strengthening of logistics infrastructure and the integration of the national territory into regional and international trade networks.

As a strategic instrument for national development, the Port Authority of Kribi reaffirms through this initiative its commitment to actively contribute to public policy implementation, while addressing the specific needs of international organizations, economic operators, and development partners.
