Kribi: A Renewed Momentum for the PAK–KCT Partnership
Addendum signed to boost container terminal development
On September 26, 2022, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) and its concessionaire Kribi Conteneurs Terminal (KCT) signed an amendment to their concession agreement during a ceremony held at the Emergence Building in Yaoundé. The objective is to align the partnership with current economic realities and to support the sustainable growth of Kribi’s container terminal.
Key Pillars of the Amendment
-
Revitalization of the PAK/KCT partnership: maintaining competitive tariffs despite inflation, restructuring the investment program, and revising traffic forecasts realistically.
-
Confirmation of KCT’s commitment to finance Phase II of the terminal’s development.
-
Adjustment of public commitments in line with evolving infrastructure needs.
-
Update of the operating and development plan, taking into account the post-COVID-19 context and new global maritime trade dynamics.
A Shared Vision for the Future
This initiative underscores the common ambition to position Kribi as a leading port hub in the Gulf of Guinea, while anticipating future needs in terms of logistics connectivity, tariff attractiveness, and regional competitiveness.
Focus on Phase II
The second phase of the container terminal’s development, scheduled for completion by the end of the first half of 2024, includes:
-
the construction of a new 715-meter quay,
-
the development of a yard of over 30 hectares,
-
the acquisition of 5 quay gantry cranes and 15 yard gantry cranes.
With this new momentum, the Kribi Industrial-Port Complex is set to strengthen its position as a driver of regional and international competitiveness.
