Promising prospects for investment and port competitiveness

On Thursday, January 26, 2023, the General Manager of the Autonomous Port of Kribi (PAK), Mr. Patrice MELOM, hosted in audience Mr. Nicholas STAINES, Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Cameroon.

🔍 Constructive discussions on the future of the port

Several key topics were addressed during the meeting, including:

  • expansion opportunities for the Port of Kribi,

  • investment projects aimed at enhancing its competitiveness and connectivity,

  • and public-private partnerships (PPP) for funding strategic infrastructure such as:

    • the EdĂ©a-Kribi highway,

    • a proposed railway connection,

    • and various other key logistics networks.

Following the talks, the IMF representative visited the port facilities in Mboro, where he praised the notable progress achieved and commended PAK’s leadership for its tangible advancements.

The meeting ended on a hopeful note, with Patrice MELOM expressing confidence in Kribi’s emergence as a leading port platform, increasingly attracting the attention of major international financial institutions.

The PAK’s guest later visited the port facilities in Mboro and took the opportunity to congratulate the PAK’s top management on the significant progress he witnessed firsthand.

The meeting concluded on a hopeful note from Patrice MELOM regarding the emergence of Kribi as a leading port hub, as it now attracts the attention of major financial institutions.
