Development of Growth Sectors: Wheat on the Quays of the Port of Kribi
A first shipment highlighting traffic diversification and new investments
On Friday, October 13, 2023, the Port of Kribi reached another milestone in its development with the reception of a first shipment of wheat destined for the La Pasta SA processing plant, located within the industrial-port area.
A successful logistics operation
In the early hours of the day, the bulk carrier KM Fortune, arriving from Poland, docked at the multipurpose terminal of the deep-sea port of Kribi with more than 5,000 tons of wheat in its holds. The unloading operation, completed in just 24 hours, mobilized nearly one hundred trucks to transport the cargo directly to the processing plant.
A milestone for national investment
This shipment is particularly significant as it marks the first import operation carried out by a national investor, namely Célestin TAWAMBA, head of the Cadyst Invest Group. It also reflects the ongoing efforts by the General Management of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) to diversify traffic and attract investments.
Performance and food safety
The success of this operation also stems from effective collaboration with the teams of Kribi Multipurpose Terminal (KMT). Its CEO, Didier KINSOEN, expressed satisfaction with the high level of performance and strict compliance with food safety standards.
An attractive and strategic port
According to the Director General of PAK, Patrice MELOM, this achievement further confirms Kribi’s growth momentum, supported by streamlined procedures and incentive measures. It is part of the President of the Republic’s vision to position the Port of Kribi as a major hub of competitiveness.
Consolidating its role, five years on
Five years after the start of its commercial activities, the Port of Kribi is increasingly asserting itself as a strategic hub for trade in Central Africa and a key contributor to national economic growth.
