Complementarity of Cameroonian Ports: Renewed Agreement between PAK and PAD
Strengthening Cooperation to Maximise National Maritime Potential
The Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) and the Port Authority of Douala (PAD) have renewed their Framework Cooperation Agreement, strengthening a strategic partnership established in 2017. This partnership is aimed at enhancing the complementarity of both ports, supporting the Kribi-Douala maritime feeder service, and developing joint promotional initiatives to boost Cameroon’s maritime trade competitiveness.
Working Hand in Hand for Port Synergy
During the signing ceremony in Douala on 27 July 2023, the General Managers of both Ports highlighted the success of the previous partnership and stressed the importance of working in a collaborative, non-competitive spirit. Each year, PAK sends staff to PAD for benchmarking missions, demonstrating knowledge transfer and the fraternal relationship between the two ports, both under the oversight of the State of Cameroon.
Strategic Levers for an Expanded Partnership
The renewed Framework Agreement covers several key areas:
-
Coordination of the Kribi-Douala maritime feeder project.
-
Joint participation in promotional and institutional events.
-
Facilitation of trade and monitoring relationships between port communities.
-
Exchange of knowledge in port management, human resource, and asset development.
-
Discussions on the national port sector governance and international lobbying.
-
Creating attractive conditions for businesses and logistics operators in both port zones.
This initiative marks the start of a new era of strategic cooperation, reflecting the shared commitment of both ports to address maritime trade challenges together and drive economic growth in Cameroon.
