Missions of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK)

Driving Port Performance and Sustainable Growth

As a key player in the port industry, the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) is responsible for the management, development, promotion, and marketing of the public port domain of Kribi. In this capacity, it is  tasked with a set of missions within the limits of its port jurisdiction.

The main missions of the Port Authority of Kribi are defined by Decree No. 2020/252 of May 5, 2020, approving its Articles of Association. They are as follows:

1. Management of the public port domain
  • General coordination of port activities;

  • Coordination of all public services and organizations involved in or benefiting from port activities;

  • Management, maintenance, upkeep, renovation, and renewal of port infrastructures and equipment;

  • Coordination of industrial and commercial activities related to port operations, including the production of goods and services, transport, warehousing, storage, stevedoring, handling, towing, mooring, piloting, ship agency, terminal management, customs transit, provisioning, bunkering, and ship-to-ship transshipment;

  • Ensuring safety and enforcing regulations governing port operations and its dependencies;

  • Monitoring the adequacy between services provided and applicable tariffs.

2. Development and planning of the public port domain
  • Planning port development in consultation with relevant institutions;

  • Creation and development of port logistics zones;

  • Development and expansion of the Port of Kribi and its related facilities;

  • Construction and equipping of port infrastructures;

  • Project management of works entrusted to specialized companies, including dredging operations;

  • Execution of technical and environmental studies;

  • Protection of the port environment;

  • Management and treatment of waste;

  • Maintenance, renovation, and rehabilitation of buildings placed under its responsibility.

3. Promotion and marketing of the public port domain
  • Engagement of the port community through the Advisory Orientation Committee established within PAK;

  • Promotion of the Port of Kribi’s brand image through marketing campaigns and participation in national and international forums or events;

  • Support for cultural, sports, and community-based activities;

  • Support for local, social, and cultural sustainable development initiatives for neighboring communities;

  • Negotiation and establishment of partnerships with other port entities or any stakeholder contributing to the achievement of PAK’s mission;

  • Equity participation in national and/or foreign companies.
