African Vaccination Week: Kribi Takes Action Against Measles

The Kribi Autonomous Port and UNICEF join forces to protect the youngest

As part of the African Vaccination Week, held under the theme “A Long Life for All”, a local response campaign against the measles outbreak is taking place from September 7 to 13, 2025, across the Kribi health district.

This initiative is driven by the Kribi Autonomous Port (PAK) in partnership with UNICEF, under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSANTE).

The campaign targets children aged 0 to 5 years, who will receive the measles (MMR) vaccine, along with booster shots for other vaccines included in the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI).

To ensure broad community engagement, mobile awareness teams will be deployed to inform families about the risks of measles and the importance of timely immunization.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 17,500 measles cases were recorded in Africa between March and April 2022 — a 400% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. The main cause of this surge: delayed child vaccination.

Through this campaign, PAK reaffirms its social responsibility and community commitment, contributing to improved public health outcomes for local populations.
