A Masterful Demonstration of Preparedness and Coordination
A full-scale evacuation drill tests the responsiveness and efficiency of Kribi Port’s safety system.
On September 5, 2025, the Port Authority of Kribi conducted a fire drill at its administrative building in Mboro. The exercise successfully tested the coordination of emergency teams and strengthened the port’s culture of safety and readiness.
On Friday, September 5, 2025, at exactly 10:30 a.m., the calm atmosphere of the Port of Kribi’s administrative building in Mboro was abruptly disrupted by the piercing sound of the fire alarm. In an instant, daily routines shifted into an emergency scenario — the simulation exercise had just begun.
In a swift and orderly manner, occupants evacuated the building, converging at the designated assembly point. This prompt reaction created optimal conditions for the intervention teams. By 10:32 a.m., firefighters arrived on site with two fire engines and an ambulance. The operation, carried out with impressive realism, involved four simulated victims — two with mock injuries and two experiencing respiratory distress. The emergency teams alternated between rescue and firefighting maneuvers with remarkable coordination and professionalism.
The exercise concluded at 10:55 a.m., under the attentive supervision of the Port Commander, Mr. Bertrand Ndi Mendugena, whose presence highlighted both the symbolic and strategic importance of operational readiness.
Organized by the Fire, Pollution, and Disaster Safety Service, the drill aimed to assess the responsiveness of the Harbour Master’s security system and strengthen collective reflexes in the face of fire hazards and other emergencies.
Following the exercise, an inspection and awareness campaign was carried out across all port facilities to verify the presence and functionality of firefighting equipment, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and promote the effective implementation of fire prevention measures.
