Kribi takes center stage in African cycling

On October 3rd, 2023, the city of Kribi came alive with excitement as it hosted the 23rd edition of the Chantal Biya International Cycling Tour, a major highlight of Cameroon’s national sporting calendar.

The opening ceremony took place at the city’s festive square, specially prepared for the occasion, in the presence of high-ranking dignitaries.

Notable guests included Narcisse MOUELLE KOMBI, Minister of Sports and Physical Education, and Jules Doret NDONGO, Minister of Forestry and Wildlife. They were joined by the Governor of the South Region, local authorities, and Modeste AKO’O, Senior Technical Advisor at the Port Authority of Kribi, a proud partner of the race.

🚴‍♀️ Outstanding athletes, shining youth

During the opening criterium in Kribi, ED DOGMY Achraf from Morocco emerged as the standout performer, completing the 109 km race in 2h33min40s, with an average speed of 42.56 km/h — a remarkable feat that set the tone for the tour.

Equally noteworthy was Nguemguim Steve Auriol, a rising talent from Cameroon, who was awarded the light blue jersey by the Port Authority of Kribi, in recognition of his potential as the best young rider. This symbolic gesture highlights the port’s commitment to supporting youth development and local excellence.
