A Strategic Visit to Strengthen Investments in Port Infrastructure and Regional Connectivity

On September 13, the African Development Bank (AfDB) Director General for Central Africa, Mr. Serges Marie N’GUESSAN, paid an official visit to the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) to assess the progress of projects supported by the institution.

He was accompanied by Ms. Dorothy Bekolo from the Ministry of Economy, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Public Works. During the visit, Mr. N’GUESSAN commended the advancements made in both infrastructure and social projects, aimed at enhancing the performance and competitiveness of the Port of Kribi.

Discussions during the visit focused on key strategic areas, including:

  • The industrial zone of the port, seen as a critical driver of local economic transformation;

  • Road connectivity, essential for efficient logistics and regional integration;

  • And the PASEK project, a major development initiative for the port platform.

Mr. N’GUESSAN emphasized the urgent need to improve road links, particularly the Edéa–Kribi and Lolabé–Campo routes, to maximize the impact of existing investments and enhance port accessibility.

The delegation also visited several companies operating within the port’s industrial zone, including Cimpor, ACC Cocoa, and KCT, where the second phase of development is nearing completion. These visits underscored PAK’s ability to attract major industrial players to its ecosystem.

With the continued technical and financial support of the African Development Bank, the Port Authority of Kribi remains a key player in Cameroon’s economic development and a strategic logistics hub for the Central African sub-region.
